My Addiction

It's been awhile since I post a something about my experience from DotA, well I'm gonna do it again!!!

As the title say I won't be telling a story about my addiction to drugs or anything noooooo... So my addiction is of course to DotA. As l told you on my previous stories DotA was just a hobby to me but then it got a lot more addicting, the way it persuade me is when I got my first item. Items in DotA for "newbies" are said to be very invaluable and that's how I thought about it for the first time. As I got better at a hero I felt that if I had an item for that hero it would make a statement that I'm good at it, so I did a quest on completing my first set of item which was the BloodSeeker's set. 

It took some time to get the item but I managed to collect it. After that I got crazier, when I saw pudge's set I just fell in love. The harsh truth went out on me when I just knew that the Dragon Claw hook was so out of reach. Then time went on and my friend started to meet a guy who sold items, well he's a believable guy and my friends bought me Whale hook and a Mad Harvester set, which I'll be carrying to TI7... Well I'm getting off topic now so Yeah that's like my addiction right now, the thing is you just can't get off DotA if you've played it, except if you had a frickin lots of lose streak.

Although these are for loading screen i prefer to use it for background for my PC.

If you want to use these loading screens, just use it manually. Here is the tutorial. (Note : you only can use the loading screen on your current PC. I recommend to use it at your home PC)

Check Your Ping Before You Play

Checking your ping before playing is a must for me. Because i don't have a good internet connection. I always check it on the desktop not in-game. Why not in-game? because it took time and wasting my internet (I'm using volume based internet). There is people who already know this thing.

So, how to do it? You can use notepad and run (just search it, on your windows).

Using Notepad
It's easy, you just copy and paste these code to a new notepad and save it with the name file "xxx.bat"*

Using Run
It's pretty easy.
First, you open run.
Second, enter this code "ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t"**
Third, click enter.

Then you got it, using run is better than the notepad because you will get your ping until you close the program.

*rename "xxx" with any name
**rename "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" with this IP Addresses

The listed IPs are of one among the servers used in a cluster for all regions, which is enough to approximately determine the ping.

Showing Your Ping Without Using -ping

So, like the tittle say we will do something to our dota 2 to show your ping and your fps to your display screen permanently (we can active and deactive it). The example of the result is like the picture below (it was me lagging).

I think its more effective than type -ping and wait the server to respond. And how to do it?

First, Open your steam games library and right click DotA 2 and open the properties. After open the properties, click "set launch option" and type "-console" in the box. And click ok

 

Second, After that open your DotA 2. And not longer after that there will be a large command box. There is nothing wrong with that because that is the console. In the console box you type "net_graph 1" (to activate it, "net_graph 0" to deactivate it) and then click enter. After that close the console box.

And now you are done with your "Permanent -ping". It's positioned on the bottom right, you can change the position by command, but it's kinda hard.

Dota 2 Update - January 9th, 2014

Wow, I just posted the update now. its already 2 week passed since that update. I'm a 9 grader student, and I'm busy studying for the National Exam. So the update is about 50MB.
The Update conclude:

• Ranked matchmaking rating changes are no longer dependent on match length.
• Fixed hitboxes for Evergreen Stalker treants.
• Model and animation fixes to Invoker's Forged Spirit and Iceforged Spirit.
• Model and animation fixes to Osky Ottragon International Courier.

 WORKSHOP

• Added Wraith King to the workshop.
• Added a checkbox for the Spring 2014 event on the publish page.
• Legion Commander's budget now displays on the workshop.
• Updated budgets for Ember Spirit, Storm Spirit and Dazzle.
• Added Stone Summons slot and budget for Earth Spirit.
• Updated body texture for Pudge.
• Updated workshop files, including separated fbx and smd, for Lone Druid, Earth Spirit, Faceless Void, Nature's Prophet/Treants, Invoker/Forge Spirits and Riki.
• Alpha test enabled for Nature's Prophet Treants.
